Bridgwater Carnival fans travel 4,000 miles to parade

“The lights and the music, everyone spins out of control and the different themes are just right,” Ms Crumrine continued.

She comes to Carnival with her 76-year-old father, Bob Crumrine, who has never flown overseas before.

“I asked him if he wanted to come along. He was completely on board,” she said.

“My dad and I are both big geeks, so we’re looking forward to seeing the construction of the floats, the hydraulics, the speakers, everything.

“He was a DJ and used to have a rollercoaster, so he loves that kind of stuff. He’s been watching YouTube videos non-stop since we decided to do this.”

The couple will arrive in London on Friday before embarking on a whistle-stop tour of the West Country – visiting Bath and Weston-super-Mare before arriving in Bridgwater for a fireworks display and lantern parade.

“We’re flying in on Friday and coming back after the weekend. We’re mainly coming for the carnival and we can’t wait for it,” Ms Crumrine said.
