ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ guest pick revealed for Penn State-Ohio State

No, it’s not Pommel Horse Guy. It’s not Cael Sanderson or Trace McSorley. But the “College GameDay” guest pick ahead of Penn State-Ohio State will be a familiar face.

Keegan-Michael Key, an actor, comedian and Penn State alumnus, returns to Happy Valley and ESPN’s “College GameDay” desk to be the show’s guest picker this weekend.

Key has appeared on “College GameDay” several times. Notably, he was the guest pick prior to Penn State’s 2016 Big Ten championship win over Wisconsin.

Key is best known for his hit comedy show “Key and Peele” on Comedy Central. He has also appeared in countless other films and shows over the past two decades.

Key is known in Happy Valley for being James Franklin’s lookalike. Key was the guest coach for the 2018 Blue-White game. He also surprised the team in 2015 by impersonating Franklin at a rally the same week that Key was Grand Marshal for Homecoming weekend.

Some felt that ESPN could have been more creative with its selection since Key is a repeat voter. We had a few thoughts on who would have been fun choices, including Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik, Sanderson, McSorley and even Chewbacca.

“College GameDay” will be set up outside the Bryce Jordan Center next to Beaver Stadium on Saturday. Fans attending the show can begin entering the pit area at 6:30
