India vs New Zealand live score, 3rd Test Day 1: Washington Sundar shines as New Zealand reach 92/3 at lunch on Day 1

India vs New Zealand Live Score, 3rd Test Day 1: New Zealand went to lunch at 92/3 on the opening day of the third and final Test against India in Mumbai, with Will Young (38*) and Daryl Mitchell (11*) at the crease. The visitors laid a solid foundation despite facing stifling heat and humidity at the Wankhede Stadium. But India fought back thanks to spinner Washington Sundar who took two quick wickets to halt New Zealand’s early momentum.

New Zealand captain Tom Latham won the toss and elected to bat first, but India struck early as pacer Akash Deep caught Devon Conway lbw for just four, taking advantage of the variable bounce on the pitch.

With spin being introduced quickly, New Zealand initially responded well, with Young launching a massive six off Ravichandran Ashwin in the 15th over. But Washington Sundar quickly made an impact, dismissing Latham for 28 and Rachin Ravindra for five with deliveries that straightened slightly before batting.

New Zealand, who already led the series 2-0 after wins in Bengaluru and Pune, are aiming for a historic 3-0 whitewash, having already secured their first ever Test series win in India.

India, on the other hand, will be looking for a morale-boosting win to avoid their first home series whitewash since 2000 and build confidence ahead of a challenging five-match tour of Australia.
