New York Jets vs Houston Texans Second Half Thread

The first half of the New York Jets’ Week 9 game against Houston Texas is in the books and the Jets trail the Texans by seven points to 7 – 0.

The two teams battled through a scoreless first quarter. The Texans had the best chance to score, driving the ball down to the Jets 11-yard line before a Quinnen Williams sack and Will McDonald’s fumble recovery halted the drive.

The quarter closed with the Jets in striking distance and driving down to the Texans’ 19 yard line.

On the first play of the second quarter, Malachi Corley leapt into the end zone on an apparent touchdown run. In a play emblematic of this entire dumpster fire of a season, the rookie receiver made a monumentally stupid mistake, dropping the ball in celebration short of the goal line. The play resulted in a touchback and a turnover. Freakin’ Jets.

After a couple of drives that went nowhere, the Jets came from a 75 yard punt, pinning the Texans on their own two yard line. That gave the Jets an opportunity. In typical Jets fashion, they squandered it. The Texans put together a 98 yard touchdown drive to take a 7 – 0 lead with just over three minutes left in the half.

The Jets’ next drive went nowhere and the Texans got the ball back. They drove the ball into range for a 56-yard field goal attempt, but missed.

The Jets got the ball back near midfield, but Davante Adams dropped a perfect pass from Aaron Rodgers and the Jets were held scoreless as the half ended.

The Jets went into the locker room after getting shutout in the first half. They trail the Texans by seven points to 7 – 0. Nothing we saw in the first half or all season suggests the Jets are capable of overcoming this relatively small deficit.
