Woman accused of having sex with students while teaching at St. Xavier: The prosecution

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A now former employee of St. Xavier High School has been charged with having a sexual relationship with a teenage student, according to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Emily Nutley, 42, is charged with six counts of sexual abuse, prosecutors announced Monday.

Nutley was a teacher/instructor who oversaw a program to help students struggling with academics at St. Xavier, the prosecution explained.

The teenage victim was assigned to the program and began working with Nutley on academic issues in the fall 2023 semester, the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Nutley then began having additional contact with the student outside of school hours, prosecutors said.

The 42-year-old St. Xavier school staff sent the teenager nude photos, texts and sexually explicit messages, the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office explained.

Multiple meetings and a sexual relationship between Nutley and the teenager began in mid-November 2023, said Monday’s release from the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.

The sexual encounters took place at least once at St. Xavier High School’s campus, including in Nutley’s office, and away from school property, prosecutors said.

Attempts to stop the meetings were made by the student, but Nutley continued to text the teenager, according to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.

An internal study from St. Xavier High School led them to contact Springfield Township police, who launched their own investigation into the allegations.

Nutley was fired by St. Xavier, school communications coordinator Britan Shriner told FOX19 NOW in October.

On Monday, St. Xavier High School issued a statement saying they believe the allegations against Nutley are an isolated incident:

Nutley is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 8 at 8:30 a.m., online court records show.
