Last chance for spooky events before the holiday spirit

DENVER (KDVR) — This weekend begins the transition from Halloween to the holidays. While there is still plenty of spooky activity happening, other places in Denver are getting ready for winter.

As much as half a foot fell in parts of Colorado during the week, but Denver will remain dry and warm through at least the weekend. This may be one of Denver’s last warm weekends in the 50s and 60s, then Precise weather keep track the first possible snow of the season in the Mile High City.

Things to do this weekend

Whether you’re still in the spooky spirit or preparing for the holidays or not, there are plenty of things to do this weekend.

Día de los Muertos

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a holiday to honor and celebrate deceased loved ones in communities throughout Latin America and many places in the United States.

There are celebrations in many places around the city. Some include one party in Los Chingones in the River North Art District, while others are more family friendly events with activities such as pumpkin carving, a sugar skull coloring contest and a costume contest.

First Friday, holiday markets

While November marks closing of the last farmers marketsthere are many other markets that have just opened.

The First Friday Markets will be open on November 1st, where popular streets will host everything from pop-up vendors to artwork throughout Denver. Some of the markets include First Friday Art Walk at 40 West Arts, First Friday in Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe, First Friday in RiNo and First Fridays at Tennyson.

Meanwhile, the holiday markets have also started to open. City holiday market opens 2 November with seasonal goods and Christmas gifts.

Denver sports

Most of the Denver sports teams are away this weekend, except for the Colorado Rapids, who are in round one of the Major League Soccer Club playoffs. The team plays Friday night at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.

The Denver Nuggets also play Saturday at the Ball Arena against the Utah Jazz.

The Colorado Avalanche play Saturday and the Denver Broncos play Sunday, but both teams are also away this weekend. While the teams are away, there are still plenty of places around town to watch the game.

Concerts

T-Pain performs at Red Rocks Thursday evening, while Looking back takes over the iconic amphitheater on Friday and Saturday. Anjunadeep Open Air wraps up the weekend on Sunday with some of the last performances of the year.

Meanwhile Ball Arena hosts Sabrina Carpenter Friday and Root Wave on Sunday.

Last chance for Halloween activities

Although this weekend could be considered “Halloween Weekend”, many events are ending after Halloween landed on a Thursday this year. If you want to stay in the spooky spirit into the beginning of November, there are a few more spots open on the weekend.

Some of Denver’s Halloween pop-up bars open all weekend.

The magic of Jack O’Lantern ends November 2 and some haunted houses are open all weekendlike 13th floor and The Frightmare Connection.

Whether you’re looking for spooky things to do or slightly more heartwarming holiday activities, Denver has it all this weekend.
