Rain, snow on Halloween

Widespread rain will pour into the Twin Cities metro late Wednesday evening developing from the south and southwest.

It will be all rain to start and then it will change to a rain-snow mix. This could lead to some direct snow north of the Twin Cities, from Pine County north toward Duluth and northwestern Wisconsin, Thursday morning, where a winter storm watch is in effect. A few inches of snow is possible in these areas – especially on the colder, grassy surfaces.

For the Twin Cities metro area, it will be mostly rain with some snow flakes perhaps mixing in at times. A dusting of snow on the grass, roofs or decks is possible, but unlikely to affect roads.
