A concert-sized stage in Milwaukee’s Veterans Park is being deconstructed

The concert-sized stage erected at the south end of Milwaukee’s Veterans Park Thursday appeared to be deconstructed Friday before it was ever used.

A woman who spoke to a Journal Sentinel reporter at the scene Friday afternoon declined to explain what happened. She called the area an active construction site.

Several semi-trailers could be seen loaded with what appeared to be large pieces of metal being driven away from the site.

According to an earlier Journal Sentinel report, the setup began early Thursday.

An electrical permit filed with the city for Veterans Park lists “Kamala Harris rally” as the event description. Meanwhile, a noise variance permit for the McKinley Marina north of Veterans Park lists “Harris for President” as the “responsible party” and a concert as the purpose of the event. The noise variance permit specifies a date range from Wednesday to Monday.

It was later announced that Harris’ Friday rally would be held at the Wisconsin State Fair Exposition Center. It is scheduled to feature performances from GloRilla, Flo Milli, MC Lyte, The Isley Brothers and DJ GEMINI GILLY and guest speaker Cardi B.

Former President Donald Trump will hold a competitive rally Friday night just six miles away at the Fiserv Forum as both candidates make a final push in battleground states ahead of Tuesday’s election.
