Film fans stunned as Hollywood star transforms into Marlon Brando for new biopic

Movie fans have been seriously impressed by an actor’s transformation into Marlon Brando for a new biopic.

Many actors have undergone unrecognizable transformations for roles, with Colin Farrell the latest to do so for his role in the acclaimed HBO series The penguin.

But there’s a new person poised to take the crown as perhaps the most impressive transformation in recent years.

A star has become Brando for a new film titled Waltz with Brandowhich focuses on the actor between the years 16 and 1974, when he starred in The Godfather and Last Tango in Paris.

Waltz with Brando will portray the actor starring as Vito Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1972 gangster film, for which he won Best Actor at the Academy Awards, and movie fans were caught off guard when a still from it was released online.

But can you guess who it is?

This is not a picture of Brando from The Godfatherbut actor Billy Zane plays Brando in The Godfather.

The casting of Zane, whose credits include Dead calm and Titanichas stunned rando fans who agree that the actor looks like him in the photo.

“You could have said this was a picture of Marlon Brando and I would have believed it,” responded one stunned social media user when the photo appeared online, with many others agreeing that they thought the picture was Brando when they first saw it.

One person wrote: “There’s no way this is Billy Zane. I don’t recognize him,” with another concluding: “This might be the greatest casting ever…”

Waltz with Brandowritten and directed by Bill Fishman, is described as “the little-known but absolutely true story of how Marlon Brando convinced architect Bernard ‘Bernie’ Judge that together they could build the first ecologically perfect retreat on one of Tahiti’s tiny, uninhabited islands”.

The synopsis continues: “Brando believed that this great ecological experiment would inspire the world to create a better and more sustainable future,” the synopsis continues. “Thus Bernie, the practical problem solver, and Brando, the temperamental dreamer, embark on an incredible adventure and become unlikely friends along the way. But will this dream ever come true?”

There is currently no release date for the film.

Brando, whose other films include A tram named Desire, Guys and dolls and On the waterfrontdied in 2004, aged 80.

Last month, horror fans were lured to see new film Smile 2 after the “brilliant” casting of the son of a famous Hollywood actor.

Like Smilewhich starred the daughter of movie star Kevin Bacon, its sequel also features the offspring of a rather recognizable person – whose face was plastered on creepy posters for the film.
