I don’t know what it was about the combination of yellow and gray letters I saw in my first row, but it triggered something in my mind and I ended up revealing today’s answer on the very next line. I think the only way I could have solved this in less time would be if someone had given me the answer.

You want a balanced mix of unique consonants and vowels in your opening word.
A solid second guess helps narrow down the pool of letters quickly.
The answer can contain letters more than once.

There is no time pressure other than making sure it is done by the end of the day. If you’re struggling to find the answer or a trick word for your next guess, there’s no harm in coming back to it later.

Wordle gives you six rows of five boxes each day, and it’s your job to find out which five-letter word is hiding by removing or confirming the letters it contains.

Start with a strong word as well as LEASH – something with more vowels, regular consonants and no repeating letters – is a good place to start. When you press Enter, the boxes will show you which letters you got right or wrong. If a box turns , it means that the letter is not in the secret word at all. means the letter is in the word, but not in that position. means you got the right letter in the right place.

Your second turn should compliment the starting word, using another “good” guess to cover any common letters you missed last time, while also trying to avoid any letter you now know isn’t in today’s answer . After that, it’s just a matter of using what you’ve learned to narrow down your guesses to the correct word. You have six attempts in total and can only use real words (so don’t fill the boxes with EEEEE to see if there is an E). Don’t forget that letters can also be repeated (eg BOOKS).
